Our worldwide network of leaders and changemakers
Our support does not end with graduation. There is a thriving Pestalozzi International Alumni community with members from all around the world. This community gets support through career guidance, training and mentorship - all with the aim of empowering them to become leaders and changemakers in their communities.

A professionally managed network
Every location has a full-time Alumni and Senior Student Coordinator
Their role is to support students and young alumni by:
- Providing and organising training in life skills such as critical thinking, communication and time management, and other skills which help ensure that students are able to succeed as young adults.
- Nourishing mental wellbeing, enhancing resilience and adaptability in the face of change.
- Helping students to recognise the importance of networking and building professional relationships, including seeking out mentors (often alumni) in their fields of interest.
- Encouraging students to consider entrepreneurship and recognise the value of entrepreneurial skills, with insights into starting and running a business, including funding options, market research, business planning, and risk management.
- Providing career guidance, helping students think about careers and aspirations early so they make the right subject and further education choices.
- Guiding the search for scholarships and other sources of financial aid for further education.
- Supporting students in the application process and equipping them with skills to succeed (interview techniques, essay writing, self-promotion).
The coordinators are supported in their work by UK-based and local Pestalozzi International staff. Outside help is provided through workshops and webinars, some of which is provided by more senior alumni who are often best placed to know the needs of the current students and young alumni.

Success story
Pestalozzi International writes success stories
I will always remember my first day at Pestalozzi. I had so much joy having my own bed and three meals a day. It gave me such a boost to take on that incredible opportunity to change my life.
Today Christabel holds a degree in agriculture and works as an assistant farm manager, dreaming of having her own farm soon to help her community.

International Alumni Committee (IAC)
Participatory engagement, all the way through
The Pestalozzi approach values participatory engagement from our students. We regularly undertake surveys among the children, have suggestion boxes at all of our sites as well as Child Councils where the children are given agency over matters which affect them. Significant changes are always discussed with the children before implementation. This process continues with the International Alumni Committee, made up of representatives from all our campuses, who play an essential role in evaluating our monitoring data.
“I was privileged to speak to fellow refugee youths in Nairobi, Kenya, who were disheartened by the discrimination they faced. I'm glad my team and I were able to financially help support the various businesses they are doing.”
Boston - refugee from Maheba Camp, Zambia; Future Leaders graduate; now at university in Nairobi

Our alumni success stories
96% remain in their home countries to give back
Our programmes profoundly impact the lives of our students and their communities. Thanks to our Alumni programme we keep close contact to our former students. We are very proud that 96% of them stay to build their own countries - more than 9 in 10 alumni live and work in their country of origin. 72% serve others through public service or by financially supporting their families, including roughly 470 teachers and 360 doctors and nurses. Pestalozzi International clearly writes success stories.
